These are the themes of a book that the author defines as a pamphlet, colloquial and agile; a defence that bucks the trend of duties versus rights, obedience and respect versus the relentless individualism that regulates modern society. In seeking the motivations in politics, philosophy and religion, Camillo Langone exhorts the reader to recover the «destra divina» (tr. note, divine right) that Pasolini claimed was closed up «inside us, in our sleep» and, with newfound pride and courage, to respond to the scepticism and rampant materialism that from each of us takes what we hold dearest: our dignity as men, our own story.
The Author
Camillo Langone was born in Parma in 1962. He writes about literature, food and drink, and religion for «Foglio», «Giornale», and «Panorama».
