Product Description

Departing from different directions – one from the Left, the other from the Rightthe authors have traced a detailed portrait, both intimate and political, incorporating inedited statements by the most influential figures of the political scene.

The Book:
Pier Paolo Pasolini was the twentieth-century intellectual who more than any other divided public opinion.    There were those who loved him and those who opposed him without reserve. The Right detested him for his ideas and, especially, for his open homosexuality. The Left, to whose rank and file he belonged, rejected many of his anticipatory analyses, and even more so, his inveterate autonomy of thought. Even the Catholic world divided into admirers and detractors around his work. From very different positions, Baldoni and Borgna immediately recognised his great artistic stature and originality. This book (which avails of many inedited testimonies, and is the fruit of meticulous research), for the first time, reconstructs the “long misunderstanding” that characterised the relations between Pasolini and Italian political culture, as well as the attention that young people from the world over have devoted and continue to devote to his ideas and his work.
