Product Description
Stories from L’Aquila that no longer exists, the testimony of people who have decided not to give in to despair and instead show they’ve got guts. The proceeds from the sale of this book will be devoted to scholarships for students of the University of L’Aquila so that they do not leave the city.
The Book
Once upon a time there was a city named after the king of the sky. Then came a night when it seemed he wanted to take it all away. The buildings crumbled to dust and stones, and many of the city’s inhabitants perished beneath the rubble. Then came morning, and the tragedy stared us straight in the eyes, leaving us spellbound and speechless. Journalist Fabrizio Paladini immediately found the courage to speak. And he did so first with a reportage soon after the earthquake in Abruzzo, and then with a more in-depth account in which he lets the survivors speak. This is how Gli artigli dell’Aquila was born, first-person accounts that speak out for thousands of others whose experiences have remained in silence. These are examples of how only the perseverance of us all can transform private pain and collective shock into hope for an entire community.
