The first volume of a series of monographs dedicated to affirmed Italian and foreign architects of our times, the present catalogue collects the most important projects and realizations of David Palterer, carried out from 1982 to 2002. An architect and designer of the generation following the Radicals, an “adopted” Florentine (he studied in Florence), but a “world-wondering nomad”, Palterer seems to want to exorcise, in his work, all of the contradictions that architecture has faced from the 60’s on, and then, with the crisis of the Modern Movement, the rise of Antirationalism and, in Florence, of the Radicals, the Postmodern reflux and new trends. David Palterer seems to want to draw a “contaminated” transcription from all these ferments, taking from Postmodernism the tendency towards a cultural nomadism that sees him, particularly in some aspects of design, “shuffling cards”, playing with the combination of various stylistic elements, or operating, as in a few projects, a fragmentation that makes on think, even though culturally distant, of certain operations of unhooking of a deconstructive character. This volume, full of splendid full-page colour illustrations, is conceived as a virtual route that the reader can follow through architecture and design.
