CONTENTS
Vallecchi has published a precious edition for book-lovers dedicated to the forensic art. Created with the intention of celebrating the historical, civil, cultural importance that the figure of the lawyer has played throughout the years by participating in all the expressions of social life and emphasizing its presence in literature, art and theatre. The sources found by the authors are extremely vast: the wealth of images and of original text cover are span of time going from ancient Greece and Rome to the present. The vast documentary historically attests how this professional figure has played a primary role in the affirmation and spreading of the Italian language and of humanistic culture. The intellectual vivacity and the variety of interests is typical of the forensic figure in our past, among whom are found refined storytellers and dedicated maecenas who have actively contributed to the construction and diffusion of our national cultural identity. The iconographic sources are for a great part inedited, taken from rare volumes conserved at the Archivio di Stato in Bologna, the Biblioteca Comunale dell’Archiginnasio in Bologna, the Biblioteca Comunale degli Intronati in Siena, the Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana in Firenze, the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale in Firenze, the Pinacoteca Provinciale in Bari, and in prestigious private collections.
