The Book
A mermaid is a special being who can not move on earth but can swim even in the deepest seas; her song is irresistible, stronger than any diversity and fear. Imprisoned since birth in an “imperfect” body which does not permit her to either move or speak, Cristina is a mermaid ... “without a tail” but endowed with a voice that is out of the ordinary. A voice for years forced to silence that one day breaks free with the help of a computer and with an overwhelming communicative force. Gemma, the character who plays Cristina in the book, is a bundle of suffering and hope, delusions and «pieces of sky to conquer», with her parents, and friends like Diana who gives her some worries, and Riccardo who makes her heart beat strong. More than anything, though, she is made of words, sentences written slowly that go straight to the heart and demand attention. A whirlwind of feelings, a plunge into the reality of a special young woman, determined not to let life slip by her but instead to take hold of it and scream to the world: Here I am! A mermaid without a tail but with so many things to say.
