An extensive anthology of passages that testify to the fortune of the navigator in world literature, extracted from the writings of authors such as Leopardi, Montesquieu, Tasso, Rousseau, Voltaire, Goethe, Gogol and Dario Fo. In addition to an extraordinary iconographic apparatus, the volume contains the facsimile reproduction of the famous “Carta del Cantino”, the Portuguese map dated 1502.
