Following the success of the “1903”, “1909” and “Stella” fountain-pens, respectively conceived to celebrate the one-hundredth anniversary of Vallecchi, the foundation of the Futurist movement, research and production continue in the field of design tied to the art, handicrafts and culture of the Italian Novecento. The Vallecchi Stile project is part of the recovery, innovation and promotion of the expressive forms of Italian genius, intended to involve great names and to launch young promises, with the support and collaboration of partner-firms among the most tried and tested in their individual production sectors, like Visconti of Florence for the realisation of our pens.
Made of black vegetable resin, polished mirror bright, the 1913 has the barrel, cap and butt of gold or silver, carved with the old niello technique with the inside-out procedure. The metal is varnished with a special lacquer and then, using a burin and dry-point, the underlying gold or silver is uncovered, creating the pen’s complex decorative motif. Specially designed for the 1913, the clip recalls the movable type printing in the Vallecchi logo, and has a sliding ring like the fountain-pens of the early twentieth century. Produced with the cire perdue technique in the same metal as the pen, 750 gold or 925 silver, the pen is for its perfection an exquisite goldsmith’s jewel.
