The book
Since post-war, Giovanni Lindo Ferretti has been standing among the main Italian artists and witnesses of our time. His great commitment in music, literature, theatre and public debate has made him a crucial figure for several audiences: punk people in the eighties, the lost left-wing generation in the nineties, flaming catholics and neocons in the modern era. His political changes, from eretical communism to right-wing positions and Roman Church, left more than one follower disoriented and resentful. He’s been accused of treachery, opportunism, even insanity. This book was written to tell his story and, most importantly, to discover the public figure before the man, following his artistic and political path. Negri’s research focuses on the words Ferretti used: whether he sang them, wrote them down, or simply said them during some interview. In the background, the history and the weltanschauung of communists and catholics, the two big families which have welcomed him so far.
