The first Italian book that discusses the topic of conflict mediation in schools. Aimed to anyone who has an educational role and wishes to promote peace culture.
The book
This work focuses on a topic which is now very relevant: an educational system that promotes peace and conflict mediation in schools. The book provides anyone who’s interested in the subject with tools for comprehension and active participation in any kind of conflict, in order to spread a “culture of peace”. This is the first book in Italy which goes deeper in analyzing this issue, encompassing a first approach to conflict mediation and to nonviolence teaching, successfully combining both approaches. The authors show that a combination between nonviolence principles and conflict-solving could be the starting point to develop an abiding system of peace teaching. The book includes theoretical elaboration and some cues for a research on the topic (developed in an academic environment), as well as practical examples and tools that can be easily used by those who confront themselves with an educational role on a daily basis. This study is based on the authors’ experience in many schools in Tuscany and in other parts of Italy: for this reason, it can be easily read or consulted. It has been devised for teachers and administrator from any school, coordinators, playworkers, trainers, parents, students, academics and those who are studying nonviolence and conflict mediation.
