The celebrated Florentine magazine founded by Giovanni Papini and Ardengo Soffici, printed by the printer-publisher Attilio Vallecchi, unprocurable in antique bookshops is now avalilable again, in an unabridged anastatic reprint in two volumes plus a booklet with an introduction by Giorgio Luti in Italian and English and indices, bound in a specially shaped doubled-pannelled box. The magazine was published in Florence from 1 January 1913 to 22 May 1915. the founders Soffici and Papini were soon joined by Aldo Palazzeschi and Italo Tavolato and by leading figures in the Futurist Movement, such as Filippo Tommaso Marinetti. The most famous artists of the period, such as Umberto Boccioni and Carlo Carrà, enriched the magazine with their illustrations. Many others writers and artists also contributed articles and illustrations to the cause summed up in the verse by the fourteenth-century poet Cecco dAscoli, "Here we do not sing in the manner of frogs" printed on the title of every issue. This verse alluded to the militant intentions of the magazine, considered a poetic manifesto for a new literature, but also a political slogan standing for the Lacerbians commitment to unrestrained interventionist nationalism in summer 1914.
